Bujumbura. Burundi’s upper parliament’s chamber, the Senate, on Monday launched its three-month session by calling upon the government to send the 2012 budget bill to the parliament in time for analysis.
During the launch of the October session in Bujumbura, Senate Speaker Gabriel Ntisezerana called upon the government to send the state’s budget bill for 2012 in time.
“We call upon the government to send the state’s budget bill for 2012 in time in order to give special attention that the bill deserves.”
Ntisezerana said the parliament hardly had the time to analyse whether the budget bill reflected the needs of the population.
The senators will look into seven bills including one on the status of former combatants, another on the ratification of the protocol on the African Union Court of Justice as well as one on the reorganisation of higher education.
