Emojong, Namaganda register wins
Fide Master Elijah Emojong beat Ghana’s Kwadwo Bonsu as Christine Namaganda outwitted Nigeria’s Doris Adebayo in the third round of the ongoing Zone 4.2 Africa Chess Championship in Abuja yesterday .

The results mean the two Ugandan representatives have amassed two points from a possible three.
Emojong won his first round game at the weekend but fell at the hands of Nigeria’s International Master Olape Olubunmi in the second round.
On the other hand, Namaganda lost her first round game to Egypt’s Shrook Wafa but recovered in the second round by beating Nigeria’s Olympiad Rachel Edward Dappa.
Meanwhile, Emojong will be facing off with Nigeria’s Emmanuel Maduagwuna while Namaganda is up against yet another Nigerian Asanga Nsisong in the fourth round today. Winners of this zonal event (men and women) automatically become International Masters.
