‘Enter in classes; the government resolves your grievances’ Tanzanian teachers urged

The Ruvuma Regional Commissioner, Said Mwambungu has asked all teachers in the regional to go back in classes as the government is working on their grievances.

Songea teachers’ representatives listening the Ruvuma Regional Commissioner, Said Mwambungu (not in picture) during the special meeting held at Open University Hall in Songea yesterday.

Addressing different ‘font liners’ of teachers’ strike in Songea Municipal Council-Ruvuma yesterday Mwambungu said the government will not let them down.

“I’m humbly requesting you (teachers) to go on with your daily duties as the responsible authority works hard on your requirements so as to resolve the matter.”

Mwambungu congratulated all teachers who have not participated in strike and are still playing their daily role to students.

RC commented on them insisting “they show to what extend they love their country.”

On the other hand Mwambungu scolded the Chama cha Walimu Tanzania (CWT) Tanzania Teachers’ Union tendency of visiting schools in Ruvuma and pressurize teachers to join the strike.

“CWT is not the employer of teachers so it should obey the court order on the strike. CWT leaded should stop the strike and call back all teachers so that they can continue with their duties.”

Teachers of Tanzania started their endless strike on Monday to pressuraze the government to increase salaries and allowances.
