Exim Bank extends wings to Kigoma
Exim Bank, Tanzania’s sixth largest bank in terms of total assets and deposits, has continued to embark on its expansion programme, this time opening a branch in Kigoma.
The new branch brings the bank’s network coverage to 23 outlets across the country and two branches outside the country – in Comoros and Djibouti. That seeks to extend the bank’s footprints across the country by opening a new branch in Kigoma region.Speaking during the launch of the branch, Exim Bank Director Hanif Jaffer noted that the expansion programme is part of its excellence strategy to bring the banking service closer to the people.
“The bank seeks to bring unmatched banking services closer to the people at the grassroots level within and outside the country. Now, we are in Kigoma to support a Tanzanian gate-way to Burundi and DRC Congo,” he said.Mr Jaffer said the bank has now set its focus on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) since the segment plays a very important role on the economic growth.
He said that empowering SMEs with timely financial support would not only ensure growth in people’s business but improvement in their standards of living as well.“We have opened up a new branch in Kigoma in a bid to bring our unrivaled services closer to the people of Kigoma and neighbouring towns. Research has indicated that 85 per cent of Tanzanians are still unbanked,” he said, adding:
“We believe our new branch will help in narrowing the gap and customers can look forward to tailor-made products our bank offers,” Jaffer said.He said the bank’s ambitious vision is backed by its board of directors and customer support.“The bank is focused to being the preferred bank by choice in the next few years to come.
It is this vision that has made us achieve so much in our 15 years of existence. We have even dared to go places where no local bank has gone. My assurance is that we will continue to be the leaders in innovation providing tailor-made banking products,” Jaffer added.
