Forget Keyboard Cat, now it’s Cardboard Cat! Chinese artist’s photos of pet with hand-drawn ‘bodies’ is online sensation
As Guagua the cat could not have a real fancy dress party for its birthday, his owner drew outfits on a cardboard instead.

Guagua the cat gets to be a supernatural hero for a day with flaming ears and tail brandishing a fish as a weapon
Characters from Japanese anime series are included in this animal ‘cosplay’ – a performance art popular in Asia – where Guagua gets to be everything from a witch to a martial arts fighter and a superhero armed with a glowing fish.
In the photographs the cat’s head has been put through a hole in the cardboard, making it look like the character drawn by its owner.

The snaps were posted by a female user of Chinese micro blogging site Weibo, who is also the artist and owner.
The owner described the drawings as characters listing them as Christine Mi, Dino, Gold Sparkle, Kiki’s Delivery Service, QB, Green Drive, the Old Anchor, Gintama and Naruto.

It is not clear whether Guagua appreciated the presents, but at least it got to look good for its birthday in true cosplay style..
Cosplay is short for costume play where fans wear the costumes of their favourite characters in films and comics.

Although the trend began in Japan, cosplay conventions are now a world-wide phenomenon with special meet-ups for all sorts of entertainment from Star Wars to Japanese anime series Sailor Moon.
