Nature to grace Rocky City Marathon
Renowned bongo-fleva artist Juma Kassim Ally a.k.a Sir Juma Nature is set to grace this year’s Rock City Marathon to be held on October 28 at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.

While addressing the press on the event in Dar es Salaam, Sir Juma Nature, who will lead his group in the event, said that he is ready to deliver the best performance and rock the city during the breathtaking event. “We are ready to perform and entertain the fans and runners in the Rock City Marathon 2012 in Mwanza.
My all fans should expect the best of me and come to witness Rock City Marathon event also having the chance to watch me perform live at CCM Kirumba Stadium on October 28,” Nature said. Capital Plus International (CPI’s) Events Manager and organizer of this year’s Rock City Marathon, Grace Sanga said that there are big changes in this year’s Rock City Marathon and Sir Nature’s performance is among them.
“We have made lots of improvement thanks to our sponsors, National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Airtel Tanzania, Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), African Barrick Gold, Nyanza Bottlers, Parastatal Pensions Fund (PPF), Geita Gold Mine, TANAPA, Sahara Communication, ATCL, New Mwanza Hotel and New Africa Hotel.
“These sponsors have enabled us making tremendous changes including inviting Sir Nature to perform during this year’s Rock City Marathon,” Grace said. Adding, Grace said that up to now a total of 123 people had already registered for the breathtaking event with a big number falling in the 21km category and she calls upon more runners to step forward for registration.
Grace said that this year’s Rock City Marathon’s awards have greatly been improved. “The winner in the half marathon 21km category for both men and women will take home 1.2m/- while the first runner up will pocket 900,000/- and second runner up receives 700,000/-.
“Runners who take fourth place up to 10th each will take home one hundred and fifty thousand Tanzanian shillings while other runners who fall into the 11th place to 25th each will receive one hundred thousand Tanzanian shillings,” she added.
She mentioned other categories as a five-kilometres-race for all, a three-kilometre race for people who are physically impaired, a three-kilometre race for elderly (55years plus) and a two-km for children (7-10).
The event is open to runners from all over the country and other neighbouring countries who will also get the opportunity to tour different tourist areas found in Mwanza region. Registration fees raised from participants will help to supporting people with disabilities in Mwanza.
Registration forms will be available at Nyamagana Stadium offices in Mwanza, Capital- Plus International Limited offices at ATC House 3rd Floor, Athletics Tanzania (AT) headquarters in Dar es Salaam offices, and can also be downloaded from the Rock City Marathon’s blog called www.rockcitymarathon.blogspot.com.
