Newly introduced road maintenance technology could help cut the overall costs of road repair and boost efficiency. The new technology – Instant Road Repair, according to Mr Moses Byarugaba, the chief executive officer of BMC Capital, has for the past twenty years been used in several countries and proved to be reliable.

Mr Byarugaba said: “Compared to other products and techniques used in Uganda’s roads maintenance and construction, Instant Road Repair has proved to be much faster, efficient, and relatively cost effective.”

According to available data the technology that has been used in Europe, America and a number of African countries, is an all-weather technology, which can adapt to both sunny and wet conditions.

Mr Alex Mugoya, the market systems development specialist at CrossRoads Programme said the introduction of this road maintenance technology is one of the ways through which Uganda’s road sector is likely to be improved.

“It is a brilliant innovation for the roads’ sector. We welcome every good innovation towards roads maintenance.”
