Polisi Dar es Salaam humble Uhamiaji in First Division netball league
Polisi Dar es Salaam snatched a hard fought 35-31 win over Uhamiaji Dar es Salaam in the ongoing First Division Netball League at the Sokoine Memorial Stadium here on Friday.
Veteran attacker Ndigwako William was unstoppable as she tormented Uhamiaji defenders at will. The victors recorded a slim 10-8 lead at the first quarter and extended their lead to 18-13 at the breather.
Polisi Dar es Salaam maintained pressure in the last two quarters, in which, they managed 28-25 win in the third quarter and eventually emerged victorious. The day also saw high flying Filbert Bayi winning two matches at the same venue. They beat Magereza 52-31 and whitewashed Temeke Queens 84-9.
In the first match Filbert Bayi recorded a 14-6 lead in the first quarter, 27-18 at the breather and 41-24 in the third quarter before snatching 52-31 win over Magereza. They then comprehensively punished hapless Temeke Queens. In another match Tumbaku thrashed RAS Lindi 60-27, while Polisi Arusha defeated Temeke Queens 44-30.
Giants Jeshi Stars beat Polisi Mbeya 62-31, while JKT Mbweni trounced counterparts JKT Ruvu 73-39. The league will reach its climax on Monday, where Deputy Minister for Education and Vocational Training Philipo Mulugo, who will be the guest of honour, will present prizes to winners and outstanding players.
