Tanzania: After 10 deaths, RC stops cargo trucks to carry passengers

Rukwa Regional Commissioner, Eng. Stella Martin Manyanya has ordered police force to ensure cargo trucks do not transport passengers.

Eng. Manyanya said that after her visit in Rukwa Regional Hospital to see the accident injuries who continue to get treatment following Friday T 407 AST lorry accident which stopped the lives of 10 citizens living other 37 injured.

“I want you to ensure this order is implemented effectively. Any person who will be caught carrying passengers in cargo trucks must face legal actions.” Eng. Manyanya told Rukwa Regional Police Commander, Jacob Maluanda.

RC Manyanya said the residents will not tolerate losing their beloved for accidents which can be prevented if the authority works day and night to ensure it.

Earlier in her visit, one of passengers, Conrad told the RC that deaths increased because the cargo truck carried many passengers.
