Tanzania: Basketball technical course draws 30 coaches

At least 30 coaches from the Mainland and Isles are expected to attend a basketball technical course to be conducted by a well versed FIBA trainer Rafik Youssef, starting tomorrow at the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro.

The course organised by the Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) under the Olympic Solidarity sponsorship will run from Monday to September 14.TBF Assistant Secretary General, Michael Maluwe said in a statement  that they expect the course to equip the coaches with the latest techniques in which the participant will pass over to the players for the development of the sport.

“We hope after the course the participant will use the skill attained for the development of the sport in schools, clubs as well as regional teams to unearth best talents,” said Maluwe.Maluwe said they have sent invitation letter to the participants to get release from their employers, because majority of them are under the municipal and district councils.

Moreover, he said, the participants are supposed to be in Morogoro on Sunday in time ready for the start of the course. They are each required to carry a stop watch and whistle meant for practical training. He was optimistic that the country will witness changes as far as basketball is concerned banking on the training skills to be gained in the training.
