TEA to facilitate girls’ education

Tanzania Education Authority (TEA) has organized fundraising campaign to support Dormitories construction in secondary schools as part and parcel towards helping girls to accomplish their goals which will be held on 14Th July this year in Kibaigwa-Dodoma.

Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam yesterday, the Acting Director for TEA, Esther Abayo said the campaign is specifically aimed to collect funds for construction of hostels for girls in Tanzanian Secondary Schools.

Esther said the campaign intends to collect 2.3 Billions Tsh. from different stakeholders where by each Dormitory is expected cost 78 Ml without furniture and a total of 1,504 girls will benefit from the project after its completion.

On the other hand the Director of Human Resources Mr. Seif Mohamed said the aim of TEA is accomplish the construction of girls dormitories hence urged stakeholders to contribute not only money but also any kind of support including labour power and building equipment.

Girls in Tanzania have been encountering different challenges such as lack of dormitories in Schools hence walking a distance to school, the factor which has been associated with pregnancies and drop out from schools. This has been a big threat to Tanzania education.
