By

Three people have been killed, and four others injured, after a man starting shooting at a spa in Brookfield in the US state of Wisconsin.

This photo provided by the Brookfield Police Dept. shows Radcliffe Franklin Haughton, 45, of Brown Deer, Wis. Deputies are searching for Mr. Haughton who is suspected of killing three and wounding people in a shooting at a spa near a suburban Milwaukee shopping mall.

A large number of police arrived at the Azana spa after witnesses said they saw a man with a gun.

Police say the suspect, identified as Radcliffe Haughton, 45, is still at large.

TMJ4 news said police had surrounded his home in the nearby suburb of Brown Deer.

Several areas near the spa – including a shopping centre, a country club and a hospital – are locked down, as the search for the suspect continues.

Brookfield Police Chief Dan Tushaus described the situation as “fluid and ongoing”.

The White House issued a statement saying Barack and Michelle Obama’s thoughts and prayers were with the victims of “this horrible shooting” and their families.

The shooting began around 11:15 (15:15 GMT).

A quick reaction Swat team and hostage negotiators are also on the scene – in addition to FBI personnel.

At least 20 fire, ambulance and police vehicles are there in addition to a medical helicopter on the ground.

It was the second mass shooting in Wisconsin this year.

In August, Wade Michael Page, a US Army veteran with ties to white-power groups, killed six people as they prepared for a service at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee.

Seven people were killed in March 2005, when a gunman opened fire at a Living Church of God service held at a hotel.
